How does SureMed work?
SureMed enables the confidential and secure collection of medical information from GPs (via an e-form) that is then delivered to a Practice Management System.
Which Practice Management Systems (PMS) support SureMed?
Konnect SureMed will initially be made available through Medtech32, and in time will be extended to other Practice Management Systems.
Are GPs in control?
Yes. GPs have complete control over reviewing and submitting information sent to the insurer.
Are GPs and their patients protected?
Yes. All SureMed processes meet all legal and ethical requirements for the collection, use, storage and disclosure of health information within New Zealand.
Can I complete SureMed requests outside the practice?
Yes. SureMed requests can be completed outside the practice using Medtech’s remote access capability.
How long will it take to become familiar with the SureMed forms?
Not long. The SureMed forms are similar to existing electronic forms used by Medical Providers, and Konnect has worked closely with GPs to develop the SureMed forms to fit in with the way that GPs work, so the forms are easy to use.
Which insurers submit their information requests through Konnect SureMed?
We are well advanced in discussions with all insurers in the NZ market, most of whom have expressed interest in using the service. Four major insurers have already committed to coming on-board: AMP, AXA, Fidelity and ING.
How does payment work?
Payment is automatic on completion of information requests. Non-standard requests are catered for also. Improved speed of payment and ease of reconciliation will be of benefit to most practices.
Will Insurers continue to contact me about outstanding information requests?
Under the new model, Konnect takes on the responsibility for interacting with GPs on a day-to-day basis around insurance-related information requests.
