Field-tests are underway with Konnect’s SureMed, an innovative new electronic service that helps GPs complete medical-related insurance forms quickly and efficiently.
And already the service is proving popular with General Practitioners using the world-leading and locally developed technology.
Konnect has been working closely with 10 doctor practices from Auckland and Wellington during the trial. GPs have already stated that they are able to complete insurance forms for patients much faster than the previous paper-based system.
Konnect’s Hamish McLachlan says the speed of SureMed means GPs spend far less time on paper work, freeing up time for patient care. “This can only be a positive for the GPs, their patients and the insurance sector because everyone is receiving what they need and require – and quickly,” says McLachlan.
“We have sought a lot of feedback from the GPs and the insurance sector in shaping SureMed to date, this will be an ongoing process as we evolve services to meet the needs of all parties concerned.”
Konnect has consulted widely to ensure that SureMed meets legal and ethical requirements, and aligns with best practice. The new standardised form for information requests from insurance companies ensures patient confidentiality, making it easy for doctors to select only the information they consider relevant to the request.
A nationwide roll-out of the service will commence in September.
