E-insurer requests rolled out

By Konnect News, December 3rd, 2009

(New Zealand Doctor 4 November – Jodi Yeats).   Auckland company Konnect is rolling out its electronic form for responding to insurer requests, SureMed, in the latest MedTech32 update. SureMed automates the process from the insurer request through to delivery of information, using a secure encrypted form sent via Healthlink, to payment for service. Feedback from the 10 practices that trialled SureMed was that it reduced the time taken to respond to insurer requests from around 40 to 10 minutes, Konnect managing director Hamish McLachlan says. The service is free to GPs who start by downloading a registration form and returning it to Konnect. So far, insurers ING, Fidelity, AXA and AMP are involved, but Konnect hopes two more insurers will go live this month and all will be using SureMed by early next year.
